How are you Roddy? How is your ankle?
My foot is way better now. I had surgery in June and with the doctors, we’ve decided to take it slowly. So we’re not rushing anything. But I think I'm almost ready to start playing again. The latest tests were really positive.
Do you think that maybe you came back too quickly after your first injury?
The first time, the doctors saw the tests and told me I was ready to be on the court again. But rethinking about it now, it might have been too early. This time, with the lockout, I can take all the time I want. And I’m slowly starting to test my foot again. We’ll see how it goes.
Let’s talk about the French national team. Will you be ready if the coach calls you?
Of course I will. You guys did a great job at the European Championship and going to the Olympics, that’s huge ! I’m really excited about playing for France. So yes I’ll be ready.
Where were you during the European Championship?
I was in Dallas, following the games. It was really fantastic to watch.
Would you be interested in playing for a French club? And if so, where?
I’m thinking about it. But I’m not ready to play yet. Once I’m ready, and if the lockout is still in effect, I could come play in France. I don't know where yet, I need to think about it but my first choice would be Cholet.
What have you done since winning the NBA championship with Dallas last year?
First, we've celebrated our title with the city of Dallas! Then, I had surgery on my foot. I went to Guadeloupe during the summer to take care of my basketball camp. And I'm now in Dallas, still recovering from my injury.
Are you living a dream with the Mavericks?
Totally. The first time I met Jason Kidd and Dirk Nowitzki, it was really crazy. I used to watch those guys on TV and I was really impressed at first. But when you start playing with them, you forget about all that. Only the respect remains.
