B. Diaw: "Bordeaux is making progress"

Boris Diaw is currently playing for Bordeaux in the French Pro B. - -
Four wins and only one loss, Bordeaux couldn't have had a better start this season?
Yes, it’s a great start. It’s exactly what we were hoping for, even better. Our goal is to finish on top of the standings. Currently, we are tied for second place. So yes it’s a perfect start.
After those first five games, what do you think about the Pro B (the French second division)?
I was really surprised. It’s less physical than the NBA because the players aren’t as big. Here, I’m one of the biggest forwards while in the US, I’m one of the smallest. That’s really the main difference. Other than that, the rhythm of play is good even if it’s not as intense as the Pro A.
You’re also the president of the club. How is that going?
Really good. Like the team on the court, we are trying to make as much progress as we can. We should have a new stadium in 2014. Everything is ok so far.
Does your name bring more interest to the team? And does it help with the sponsors?
Yes and I can see it. We are mentioned in the press more often now and people are more interested in the team. Some new sponsors have contacted us. So yes it’s working.
What is the team’s goal for the future? Are you thinking about the Pro A ?
We have a three-year plan. First, we need to be on top in the Pro B, while maintaining a good economic environment. And then, we will think about the Pro A.
In Bordeaux, you’re reunited with Claude Bergeaux, your former coach. How is that like?
I love it. There is a lot of respect between us. He speaks to me the same way he did when I was in Pau-Orthez. Ten years later, our relationship hasn’t changed.
