Spurs’ point guard Tony Parker shares his thoughts about the upcoming playoffs. The French player believes San Antonio can win another championship this year and can’t wait for the postseason to begin.

There are only a few games left in the NBA regular season. How is the team doing?

We’re still fighting with OKC for the first seed in the West. With a win against Portland tonight, we would clinch it. That would allow Pop’ (Gregg Popovich) to rest some of us for the last two games. Everyone should play tonight, even Tim (Duncan).

What is your goal going into the playoffs?

I think we have everything needed to win. But there are so many great teams this year: the Lakers and the Thunder in the West, Miami and Chicago in the East. We have to avoid injuries in the playoffs and it would be nice to have a little luck too...

Because of the lockout, the season has been shortened this year. How was it for the players?

It was really tough. We had to play 66 games in 120 days! I'm glad the playoffs are finally here. The race to the title begins at last...

In your opinion, what is the main difference between the regular season and the playoffs?

A regular season game and a playoff game are two totally different things. In the postseason, everything becomes more physical, more intense. You need to eat and rest well so you can be as competitive as possible on the court.

Is there a team you prefer to play in the West?

I love playing against the Lakers. Since my first day in San Antonio, the goal has always been to beat them. That’s what the fans want. I love playing against the Mavericks too. They really don’t like us in Dallas (laughs)!
